Cincinnati bested the Chicago Cubs 8-6 as Ken Griffey Jr. smacked his 537th career homer in 5th to tie him with Mickey Mantle for 12th place on the all-time Career homerun list. In doing so, he also drove in his 1,538th RBI to go ahead of Joe DiMaggio for 31st on that list.

Pitcher Bronson Arroyo helped his own cause with a solo Home Run in the 3rd. Also in the 3rd, Rich Aurilia homered driving in lead-off hitter Ryan Freel.
Washington knocked of the NY Mets by the score of 9- 5 in 10 innings. Ryan Zimmerman hit first major league homer to tie the game at 4 after 9 innings. The Reds went out and scored 5 runs in the top of the 10 th, with the Cubs countering with 1 run in the bottom of the 10th and lost.

Milwaukee eeked out a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh, Florida beat Houston 6-5, Oakland Up-ened the Yankees 9-4, Minnesota routed Toronto 13 - 4, Baltimore Clobbered Tampa Bay 16-6, Detroit manhandled Fansas City 14-3.
Cleveland won a close 4-3 game over the Chicago White Sox in extra innings (11 innings) with Jason Michaels doubling in the winning run and Bob Wickman getting the win for an innings work in the bottom of the 11th. Neal Cotts took the loss for the ChiSox.
Boston beat Texas 2-1 in a classic pitching duel between Josh Beckett and Kameron Loe. Beckett went 7 innings with Jonathan Papelbon notching the save, Loe took the loss in pitching 6 2/3 innings.

St. Louis got a run in the top of the 9th while the Phils were shut-down in the bottom of the inning as St. Louis edged the Phillies 4-3. Albert Pujols and David Bell belted homers and Jimmy Rollins’ hitting steak is at 38 games as he went 2 for 4 on the night. Brad Thompson got win for the Cards, Jason Isringhausen pitched a scoreless 9th for the save. Brett Myers started for the Phils, gave up 3 runs in 5 innings of work while Tom Gordon took the loss allowing the winning run in the 9th. The Phils are now 0-2 out of the starting box. So, how long will we keep saying this; Don’t worry, 161-1 is still possible ? 160-2, 159-3, etc.?
In games on Tuesday, Milwaukee narrowly beat Pitsburgh 7-5, Florida trounced Houston 11-2, Cleveland manhandled the White Sox 8-2, Texas jumped on Tim Wakefield for 7 runs in 3 2/3 innings in clubbing Boston 10-4 and Seattle bested the LA Angels with the Mariners scoring 5 runs in the 2nd and a 4 spot in the 8th in a run-filled game 10-8.
