On Thursday night, the Milwaukee Brewers swept the Phillies in their 3 game series, the get-away game by a 5-4 score. As with the previous 2 heartbreakers (1, 2), the Phils got off to early leads only to see the Brewers tie and then ultimately win.
So the Phils, who looked poised on Monday to storm back into Philly to take on Boston on a high, now return home to meet the Red Sox off of 3 close, hard-fought loses. Fortunately, the New York Mets lost as well, to the St. Louis Cardinals by a 6-3 score and now head into their confrontation with their cross-town AL rivals, the Bronx Bombers, still 2 games ahead of the Phils and in much the same condition as the Phillies.
The starters for tonight’s Phils, Boston game are Jon Lieber (3-4) for the Phils and Matt Clement (3-3) for Boston.
