On June 11, in Boston, with the Red Sox down 4-2 to the Texas Rangers in the 9th, with 2 outs, 2 men on and down 0 balls and 2 strikes, David Ortiz took 2 balls and fouled one off. On the ensuing pitch, the lefthanded hitting Ortiz (18 HRs, 56 RBIs) slammed a line drive over the Red Sox bullpen in right field to end the game. It was Ortiz’s 6th career walk-off homerun.
But Ortiz, not a lightweight himself, still has a way to go to catch the big boys.
