The media is not counting Howard’s 1st homer because it was an “exhibition game” or as they call exhibitions overseas, “friendlies.” But isn’t the entire series an exhibition?

Be that as it may, Phillies’ Ryan Howard teed-off again in the 7th inning of game 3 of the series with a 3 run shot as the major leaguers built up a 6 run lead.

In game 4, Howard struck once again in the 7th inning with a solo shot to break a 2-2 tie and his teammate Chase Utley singled in the 4th MLB run as the went on to jolt the Japanese again, this time by a 7-2 score.
The two Howard shots make 5 homers for the Japan All Star series thus far, including the one he hit in the “friendly game.”

The series ends on Wednesday at Fukuoka Dome. Since 1986, when MLB started this series in its current format, no team has swept the Japanese.
